I can tell you why a lot of people did not evacuate or leave. A lot of people could not afford to leave out of the state. When you are living paycheck to paycheck, it is impossible just to up and leave with no money alot of people did not even have transportation to get out of the city. Now don't get me wrong my people wanted to leave but I mean what can you do?? The odds were stacked against the poor and underpriviliged. I was fortunate to evacuate.Thank God!!! But the majority of my people were not. So my people did the best they could do in a horrible life or death situation such as Hurricane Katrina.Pray,Pray,Pray. I feel very sorry for those that lost anything during Hurricane Katrina. I have given all of my extra clothes and any extra money i had to help those in need in the devastated area. I wish i could have given more, it pains me to see what you all have had to go through and are still going through.
